Gletscher, Vulkane und Höhlen: Der Schweizer Fotograf Bernd Nicolaisen versammelt einzigartige Aufnahmen dieser Landschaftsphänomene, die zwischen 2004 und 2015 auf Island und in der Schweiz entstanden sind. Insbesondere den Breiðamerkurjökull, eine Gletscherzunge des Vatnajökull im Südosten des Landes, hat er immer wieder aufgesucht. Dabei hat er viel Zeit aufgebracht, um das Typische und Einzigartige dieses Gletschers zu finden und fotografisch mit seiner 8 × 10 inch-Großbildkamera zu erkunden. Für seine Aufnahmen, die er anfangs analog, später auch digital herstellte, nimmt er sich Zeit, »um Einfaches in Einzigartiges zu transformieren«. Die Aufnahmen einer scheinbar unberührten, magisch anmutenden Natur, wie von einem fernen Planeten, zeigen Orte der Einsamkeit, der Stille, der Melancholie oder auch der Spiritualität. Bei seinen Naturformkonzeptionen sind die Eingriffe des Menschen meist nicht sichtbar, keine Lebewesen oder Zeichen der Zivilisation sind dargestellt, und so finden sich das Erhabene, das Wilde und Ursprüngliche in der grandiosen Natur von Gletscher, Eismeer und Gebirgsformationen wieder: Abstrakte Formen laden zum Betrachten und Verweilen ein. Nichts ist inszeniert, und dennoch erreichen die Aufnahmen eine geradezu strahlende Magie. Sie zeigen die Größe und majestätische Erhabenheit der Gletscher, die wie zu Tableaux der Ruhe komponiert sind. Die monochromen Tönungen und detaillierten Oberflächenstrukturen erscheinen manchmal in betörenden Farben von unwirklich tiefem Blau bis zu leuchtendem Türkis, manchmal in feinsten Grauabstufungen. Spektakuläre Formationen, kleinste Linien und Formen sind sichtbar, winzige Details erscheinen wie Ornamente in der hohen Auflösung, der Perfektion und der Qualität des Drucks von eigener Hand. Nicolaisens Restlicht-Bilder zeigen die Verbindung gegensätzlicher Elemente – Eis und Lava – in Höhlen aus tausendjährigem Gletschereis.

Gletscher, Vulkane und Höhlen: Der Schweizer Fotograf Bernd Nicolaisen versammelt einzigartige Aufnahmen dieser Landschaftsphänomene, die zwischen 2004 und 2015 auf Island und in der Schweiz entstanden sind. Insbesondere den Breiðamerkurjökull, eine Gletscherzunge des Vatnajökull im Südosten des Landes, hat er immer wieder aufgesucht. Dabei hat er viel Zeit aufgebracht, um das Typische und Einzigartige dieses Gletschers zu finden und fotografisch mit seiner 8 × 10 inch-Großbildkamera zu erkunden. Für seine Aufnahmen, die er anfangs analog, später auch digital herstellte, nimmt er sich Zeit, »um Einfaches in Einzigartiges zu transformieren«. Die Aufnahmen einer scheinbar unberührten, magisch anmutenden Natur, wie von einem fernen Planeten, zeigen Orte der Einsamkeit, der Stille, der Melancholie oder auch der Spiritualität. Bei seinen Naturformkonzeptionen sind die Eingriffe des Menschen meist nicht sichtbar, keine Lebewesen oder Zeichen der Zivilisation sind dargestellt, und so finden sich das Erhabene, das Wilde und Ursprüngliche in der grandiosen Natur von Gletscher, Eismeer und Gebirgsformationen wieder: Abstrakte Formen laden zum Betrachten und Verweilen ein. Nichts ist inszeniert, und dennoch erreichen die Aufnahmen eine geradezu strahlende Magie. Sie zeigen die Größe und majestätische Erhabenheit der Gletscher, die wie zu Tableaux der Ruhe komponiert sind. Die monochromen Tönungen und detaillierten Oberflächenstrukturen erscheinen manchmal in betörenden Farben von unwirklich tiefem Blau bis zu leuchtendem Türkis, manchmal in feinsten Grauabstufungen. Spektakuläre Formationen, kleinste Linien und Formen sind sichtbar, winzige Details erscheinen wie Ornamente in der hohen Auflösung, der Perfektion und der Qualität des Drucks von eigener Hand. Nicolaisens Restlicht-Bilder zeigen die Verbindung gegensätzlicher Elemente – Eis und Lava – in Höhlen aus tausendjährigem Gletschereis.
